Application process

If you are interested making an application, this section will tell you how. It also includes an event calendar and some helpful hints and tips on achieving a successful application.

How to apply

Law undergraduates & Law graduates
Interviews for law undergraduates and graduates usually take place during August. If you are successful, you should expect to join us as a trainee solicitor in March or September two or three years later. You should apply by 31 July 2013. If you are a penultimate year law student, please wait until you know the results of your penultimate year exams.

Non-law undergraduates & graduates
Interviews for non-law undergraduates and graduates usually take place from the January of your final year of study (if applicable). This means you will need to return your application as soon as possible during the first quarter of your final year of study or by an absolute deadline of 30 April 2013.

For those considering a career change, we accept applications from autumn until the following spring.

Assessment days

If your initial application is successful, we will invite you to meet us on an assessment day. This will include:

  • a formal welcome by the graduate recruitment team and current trainees
  • a commercial exercise, assessed as part of a group so that we can see how you work in a team
  • an interview with two senior members of the firm
  • a written exercise to assess your drafting skills
  • afternoon tea and guided tour of our office.

We will, of course, reimburse you for your travel expenses. Please take the time to read over our advice on applications, interviews and commercial awareness and do check thoroughly all dates and deadlines in advance of submitting your application.

If you require further assistance, or a reasonable adjustment of the application process, please contact our graduate recruitment team at graduate.recruitment@nortonrose.com or on +44 (0) 20 7444 2113.
