“I joined Norton Rose as a trainee in September 2009. I was impressed by the firms reputation, international scope and its broad range of industry sectors. Before joining, I read physiology at the University of Bristol and I spent a year in Spain to learn Spanish before completing my GDL and LPC at BPP in London.
My training has been very wide ranging, including a seat in Hong Kong. This gave me a fantastic opportunity to experience first hand how truly international the firm is. I would also strongly recommend going on client secondment as this exposes you to more responsibility and is a great transition from being a trainee to qualifying. I spent mine with a leading insurance company.
My training has taught me two key skills: to be adaptable and remain calm under pressure. As a trainee I genuinely feel that the more you put into your training contract the more you will get out of it. If you demonstrate that you can take more responsibility, you will get it and this is really rewarding. You will work hard here but you are always made to feel part of the team and appreciated – and you’re always included in post deal celebrations.”
